Our perspective on Amari Rodgers, the 2021 rookie.
Amari Rodgers, a wide receiver out of Clemson, five-nine two hundred and twelve pounds. Rodgers accumulated seventy-seven catches, one hundred and twenty yards, seven touchdowns in 2020. His dad won a National Championship with Tennessee, was an NFL QB for four seasons, and played in the CFL for two more seasons. Being coached up from a different position and a former NFL player has value. Amari Rodgers is also connected to former NFL Pro-Bowler Randal Cobb.
"Coaches say he prepares and works like a pro."
Rodgers wastes little movement and doesn't really lose any speed through his cuts while creating separation. Amari is a skilled hand catcher with excellent field awareness. Rodgers's field awareness helps him bring in balls thrown to the sideline and end zone. His short, full-framed body combined with a plus BMI mean Rodgers can run over defenders like a running back. Amari had nine broken tackles in 2020. The coaches at Clemson say he prepares and works like a pro.
We didn't see him win many contested-catch, and this may be due to his size. Most of Rodgers's targets came underneath. Amari Rodgers has some injury concerns after tearing his ACL in 2020 but came back in six months, which is just crazy.
Scouting Report
Amari Rodgers is currently being drafted in the middle to late second rounds, and this feels right for Rodgers with some real potential upside to outperform his average draft position. Darryl is thrilled to taking Rodgers in the second round, and he is ending up with Rodgers the majority of his leagues. Amari Rodgers landing in Green Bay certainly doesn't hurt his dynasty fantasy football outlook.
