Our perspective on Javian Hawkins in 2021.
Javian Hawkins, running back from Louisville, five-eight one hundred eighty-three pounds, ran 4.45 forty. Nicknamed PlayStation due to his elusiveness. With a name like PlayStation, you have to have good speed, shiftiness, and a quick twitch.
"Hawkins will likely sit on your taxi squad till you cut him next year."
Hawkins was not used as a pass-catcher often, but twenty-one catches with zero drops and was a high school slot receiver. So even though he wasn't used as a pass-catcher in college, you have to believe that he knows how to catch the ball. Hawkins is probably a change of pace back and maybe a third-down like a receiver or special teams player.
Javian Hawkins lacks the ideal size and power you want in an NFL running back and had a case of the fumbles at times. DraftSharks.com noted that Warrick Dune is the last running back sub-one hundred and ninety pounds to crack the top twenty-four among running backs in PPR in nineteen ninety-eight. Smaller backs typically don't make it in the NFL in terms of fantasy football production.
Scouting Report
Target him as a late-round flier in your rookie drafts. You're going to get him in the fourth round, and you'll be fine to cut him from your taxi squad next year.
