Our perspective on Pat Freiermuth in 2021.

Pat Freiermuth, AKA Baby Gronk, tight end out of Penn State, six-five two hundred and fifty-one pounds. He was a star power forward for his high school basketball team. Pat comes from an athletic family. His dad coaches high school basketball while his mom coaches field hockey. Seemed like everyone in the family did something. Missed the second half of his junior season with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

"He looks a little lost when asked to block."

While at Penn State, Pat displayed reliable hands, and you like to see that in a big tight end. Very tough over the middle and welcomed contact. Freiermuth was not afraid to go after the ball and lower his shoulder into some guys.

He was an average blocker in college, and you would think that he would be a little better at that size, but it's all technique, and maybe it'll come with time. He looked a little lost during blocking situations, and his feet looked stiff at the point of contact. Defenders would pass by him, and he would end up looking lost.

Scouting Report

Likely not going to see the field quickly because he's not an inline blocker. Expect Freiermuth to be more of a safety valve on a regular basis rather than your big-play guy, but you can still be a top ten as a tight-end safety valve. This year there's one clear stand tight-end and then a bunch of just kind of other guys.
