Our perspective on Tylan Wallace in 2021.
Tylan Wallace, a wide receiver from Oklahoma State, five-eleven one hundred ninety-four pounds but plays like a bigger wide receiver. Wallace lettered in baseball, football, and track in high school, another all-around athlete. He had a wild 2018, fourteen hundred ninety-one yards and averaged 17.3 yards per catch, and twelve touchdowns as a sophomore, and then the last two years just kind of faded off.
"What the hell happened the last two years?."
Wallace had the 4th most contested catches in the country last season, so you know he has excellent body control and can high point the ball even at five-eleven. Tylan Wallace is a deep ball machine, thirteenth in deep yards and fifth in receptions of twenty-plus yards last year. Wallace shows good awareness in his routes and finds the holes in the zone coverage. After the catch, Wallace turns into a running back and displays balance, toughness, and a nice stiff arm. Wallace appears to have a good feel for the boundary. Whether it was running or catching, he knew where the out of bounds was, or the goal line was.
What the hell happened in the last two years? Wallace’s games played dropped every year since 2018. He was unable to sustain his production after having a great breakout at a young age. Wallace suffered several injuries requiring him to miss time, and injury risk is a concern. His reduced production could also be because he needs to improve his ability to get off jams with his hands. Tylan Wallace may not have an extensive route tree as it seemed like he mostly ran go and comeback routes.
Scouting Report
Wallace is likely going in the late second round, which may be too early.
