Our thoughts on 2022 NFL rookie running back Zamir White.

Measurables:

  • 5'11" 214 lbs at the combine and 217 lbs at his Pro Day.

  • 4.40 forty-yard dash.

  • 33.5” vertical, 10’8” broad jump.

" He is a great leader and he takes care of his body." Head Coach Kirby Smart

Strengths:

  • He started playing football at six and made the varsity team as a freshman in high school, leading to him being the number one running back recruit in 2018.

  • White has an excellent build and lives in the weight room.

  • Zamir is a physical inside runner that displays quick feet, possesses great instincts, and bursts out of cuts.

  • A strong lower body helps him maintain his balance and helps him break tackles. He will not go down without a fight.

  • Only three career fumbles

  • He has overcome a variety of setbacks. He was born with a cleft palate, leaking kidneys, and he wasn't expected to live. He has suffered two torn ACLs but still led Georgia in rushing the past two seasons.

Weaknesses:

  • White has trouble putting moves together and sometimes cuts into contact.

  • His speed doesn’t always show up on the field, and he can look slow at the line.

  • James Cook put a damper on his targets finishing with 21 in his career.

  • He shared “the load” and had only five games with 15 plus touches and one game over 100 rushing yards in 2021.

Scouting Report

It is pretty impressive how one of the best running backs in the nation is now almost a footnote in fantasy but is there any real reason why? Zamir White and James Cook spit time in Georgia and had completely different roles. Is Cook that much better because he went Buffalo? The Raiders don't seem to be invested in Jacobs long-term and may not be able to afford his new contract. White feels like the perfect back to replace Jacobs and could be just as successful. If you are sleeping on him, it is at your own risk. Don't let the timeshare fool you; White is the better running back and can be acquired later in your rookie drafts.
