Our reflections on 2022 newcomer Breece Hall.

Breece Hall, running back out of Iowa State, 5'11", 217 lbs. Ran a 4.39 40-yard dash and had a 10'6" broad jump.

"...he should be a top-10 dynasty RB immediately."

The first thing that pops out watching Hall is his contact balance. The kid refuses to go down, and it almost always takes more than one tackler to bring him down. He also has very quick feet to bounce to and through the holes. Breece Hall has relatively large hands at 9.75", which should help hold onto the ball, and also in the receiving game, where he excelled in college.

Hall doesn't look as fast on the field as he tested at the combine. He is explosive, but he may just be a guy that's "quicker than fast." He's very sudden at getting away from defenders but doesn't look to have great long speed from what we've seen. Breece is more upright than we like between the tackles, so maybe he can work on getting the pad level down a bit. Overall, he doesn't possess any traits we're worried about.

As far as athletic testing goes, Breece Hall is 97th percentile in the 40, which is surprisingly the most common indicator of running back success in the NFL. He also has a 98th percentile speed score, 94th percentile burst score, and holds a 95th percentile College Dominator. According to Player Profiler, Hall's best comparable player is Johnathan Taylor.

Scouting Report

The positives and athleticism are off the charts, and any negatives we see are easily remedied. In my opinion, Breece is a better prospect than Najee Harris, who was taken as the RB1 in rookie drafts last season. As stated above, it also doesn't hurt that his profile is compared to Johnathan Taylor. I would feel completely comfortable taking Breece #1 overall in rookie drafts of any format, and he should be a top-10 dynasty RB immediately.
